Yesterday and today was the first of many Model UN Conferences our club participated in. Thank you everyone for your hard work and cooperation. (Special thanks to Mr. Fahler for taking time out of his busy schedule to accompany us and Coach Stuckey for driving us to and from the University of Houston). Everyone did a great job as delegates of their respective committees. It was nice too see that everyone enjoyed their first conference as much as I did. However, I would like to specifically congratulate Aditya Namjoshi and Wilbert Liu for both earning awards as delegates of Zimbabwe in the Special Political and Decolonization Committee and United Nations Children’s Fund, respectively. Here is the link to the pictures Mr. Fahler took during the conference: https://goo.gl/photos/UQ8BNV4F2hcSNx436 Participants of the Conference: 1) Zimbabwe: United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC): William Li 2) Romania: Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC): Emmanuel Yamba 3) Romania: World Health Organization (WHO): Adith Ram 4) Zimbabwe: United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF): Wilbert Liu 5) Romania: Legal: Joseph Yu 6) Romania: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO): Eric Alvarez 7) Zimbabwe: Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC): Sabah Jamal 8) Romania: Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL): Bethany Ung 9) Romania: General Assembly Plenary (GA Plen): Anthony Lim 10) Zimbabwe: Social Cultural and Humanitarian Committee (SOCHUM): Nina Kumenda 11) Zimbabwe: Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL): Aditya Namjoshi 12) Romania: United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP): Elizabeth Cao 13) Zimbabwe: Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC): Zach Wallace 14) Zimbabwe: World Health Organization (WHO): Evelyn Cai 15) Romania: Social Cultural and Humanitarian Committee (SOCHUM):Nandini Komanna 16) Zimbabwe: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO): Shruthi Murali 17) Romania: United Nations Refugee Agency/United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR): Divya Ramamurthy 18) Zimbabwe: General Assembly Plenary (GA Plen): Amanda Ludtke 19) Sarah Elsaim as Elijah Barayi of the African National Congress 20) Maddie Cummings as Reginald September of the African National Congress 21) Kate Yordy as Ruth Heloise First of the African National Congress 22) Cat Smith as Moses Mabhida of the African National Congress Today we had a brief meeting to address any final questions and concerns.
